Cookham Parish Council is deeply saddened by the death of Cllr. Eileen Bune on 31st March 2025.  

As a dedicated and active member of our community, Eileen was much loved and highly respected.

Her long-standing service as a Councillor was marked by exceptional effectiveness and commitment.

We owe her a profound debt of gratitude for her contributions and will always remember her with great affection.

The Parish Council is a tax-funded local government body with responsibility for a number of open spaces including allotments and the Alfred Major Recreation Ground. We also manage the Cemetery in Long Lane.

We are a consultee for local planning issues and represent our residents, through democratic processes, with higher authorities.

Sutton Rd, Cookham – Gas Pipes Upgrade over 34 weeks

Cadent Gas Network Major Works

Sutton Road, Cookham and surrounding side roads have 3.7km of corroded aging gas pipes that need to be changed.
Cadent are upgrading the ageing metal gas pipes with new more durable plastic pipes. This is government-mandated work, directed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Start date: 31 March 2025
Duration: Planned for 34 Weeks (inc. reinstatement) in 20 Phases
Length of pipe to be replaced: 3.7km (2.3 miles)
Traffic management: The majority of the project will be carried out under multi-way lights due to single lane closures with 1 bus stop suspension in phase 1. Footway closures will be in place with alternative routes provided. Traffic management for phase 20 will be confirmed

It is bordered in the north and east by the River Thames with a band of Green Belt separating it from the town of Maidenhead approx two miles to the south.

The population is around 5,500, the majority of which reside in the more built up environs of Cookham Rise.

Cookham Parish Council Office

The Parish Council is a public democratic body and members of the public are encouraged to attend the Council’s meetings.

Information regarding meetings is available on this website and can also be seen on the Parish Council’s noticeboards, the main one is located outside the Parish Office in High Road.

The others are outside Pinder Hall in Lower Road, on the Causeway near to the War Memorial and at the junction of Bigfrith Lane with Church Road in Cookham Dean.

The Clerk to the Council and Assistant Clerk have an office at the Library in High Road, Cookham Rise SL6 9JF – next to Cookham Rise Primary School.

The office is open weekdays 8.30 am – 12.30 pm, so that residents can view planning applications, enquire about burial sites, pay allotment rents and deal with any general enquiries.
